Nick Clay, CFP®, CPWA®, AIF®, AAMS®
Managing Partner & Senior Financial Advisor
My Role at BCS Wealth Management
Managing wealth often brings complexity—investment selection, tax strategy, asset protection, estate planning, and risk management all become part of the picture. For high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families, this can create unnecessary stress or uncertainty.
At BCS Wealth Management, I serve as a fiduciary advisor, partnering with families to craft custom, comprehensive wealth management plans tailored to their unique goals. My role is to simplify the process so you can focus on the people and priorities that matter most.
As Managing Partner, I also help lead the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of our firm alongside my business partners.
Education and Experience
I earned my degree in Corporate Finance with an Investments focus from East Tennessee State University. I began my career in 2005 as a staff accountant, preparing taxes for individuals and families. By 2007, I transitioned into investment advising, obtaining my FINRA securities licenses and helping clients develop portfolio strategies. In 2010, I joined BCS Wealth Management and began offering holistic financial planning across all areas of wealth management.
To deepen my expertise in advanced planning for high-net-worth individuals, I earned the Certified Private Wealth Advisor® (CPWA®) designation through the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and the Investments & Wealth Institute®. This program focuses on the full lifecycle of wealth—accumulation, preservation, and distribution.
I’m also a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) professional, having completed the rigorous education, exam, and ethics requirements through the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business and the College for Financial Planning. This designation represents the standard of excellence in financial planning.
I believe ongoing education is essential to excellent client service. In addition to obtaining multiple credentials and licenses, I meet continuing education and reporting requirements to stay at the forefront of the profession. I encourage this commitment to learning across our entire firm.
Community Involvement & Personal Interests
My wife and I have three children, and much of our time is spent at ballfields and gyms supporting their activities. I enjoy spending time on the field with our kids and their teammates and serve as a coach at FC Alliance North. I also enjoy playing golf and tennis, and I’m a fan of nearly all sports.
In 2011, I was named one of the “40 Under Forty” by the Business Journal of the Tri-Cities. I’m a graduate of our local Chamber of Commerce’s leadership program and a Paul Harris Fellow with Rotary International. I’ve had the privilege of serving on multiple nonprofit boards throughout our community.
*A recipient of the 40 Under Forty award must be nominated. Nominees are judged on their business success and their achievements as an active member of the community and must live and work in East Tennessee or Southwest Virginia. Nominations are accompanied by letters of recommendations from places of employment and service organizations.
